COLEMAN: Tremendous win and support

Posted on: Mon 08 Mar 2010

CHRIS COLEMAN paid tribute to his side and the City supporters after a hard fought win at Peterborough.

Jonathan Stead's 23rd minute strike gave City a third win in a row and moved the club to eighth place in the Championship table.

Coleman was delighted with the performance of his players, but also thanked the 3,126 supporters who turned out to back the boys - the largest away following of the season.

"The turnout were fantastic today. Absolutely brilliant," Coleman said.

"They've not had a lot to shout about in recent times and they deserve the chance to have something to get excited about. It's our job to keep them excited and keep them coming back but I was delighted to give them three points today to make sure that making the journey here was worthwhile.

"All we can do is keep on winning and that means we can have an effect on those above us. There are a few teams with a game or two in hand but all we can do is what we are doing. Nobody expected us to be here - but we are, and we've got to keep pushing."
