Posted on: Tue 16 Feb 2010

COVENTRY City supporters turned up to the Ricoh Arena in their hundreds yesterday to watch the Sky Blues train ahead of their crucial Championship clash with Newcastle United.

More than 1,000 members of the Sky Blue Army took advantage of the half-term school holidays to watch City boss Chris Coleman put his squad through their paces ahead of their trip to St James Park tomorrow.

The Sky Blues put on a one-hour training showcase for fans sat in Coventry Evening Telegraph and Telent stands before signing shirts, pictures and free balls thrown into the crowd by the players.

Young City fans also took advantage of face painting and FIFA 2010 in the Junior Sky Blues' Family Zone

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman said: "Unfortunately I was unable to join the players for the signing session after training because both myself and the chairman were in discussions to sign Jonathan Stead on loan at the time.

"It was great though for the squad to train in front of the fans and for the fans to see what goes on as part of our day-to-day preparations and I know the players enjoyed the time they spent signing autographs."

An additional thanks goes out to Pat Raybould and her team for their help in making the day a huge success!
