COVENTRY City have completed the loan signing of striker Jon Stead on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Sky Blues manager Chris Coleman has been tracking the 26-year-old for some time and is delighted to finally get the Ipswich forward to the Ricoh Arena.
He said: "We've tried a couple of times to get Jon. He has all the attributes to be a very good player for Coventry City and we have worked really hard to get him here.
"We have agreed terms with Jon and it will initially be a loan deal but we will look to make it permanent in the summer because we would like Jon to be here long term.
"Hopefully it's further evidence of what we are trying to achieve and will be another exciting signing for our supporters."
Stead began his career at hometown club Huddersfield and, after impressing for the Yorkshire side, was signed by Blackburn Rovers.
He has also had spells with Sunderland, Derby County, Sheffield United and Ipswich Town, where he has scored six goals in 13 starts this season.
Meanwhile, defender Elliott Ward has joined Doncaster Rovers on a month's loan. |
