COVENTRY City defender James McPake says he is in the middle of enjoying being in his best physical shape since joining the Sky Blues from Livingston in January last year.
The no-nonsense centre-half is currently on his longest run of consecutive games at the Ricoh Arena after injury trouble stuttered his start at the club towards the tail-end of last season and then kept him out of the first team until last December after he suffered a dislocated shoulder in a pre-season friendly against Dunfermline last summer.
But the 25-year-old said he was delighted to now be enjoying a run of games in the first team, a run that has coincided with rave reviews from neutrals, and added he feels in the best physical shape of his time at the club.
"It's really pleasing for me to feel fit and sharp because I have had a few injury problems since I came here," he said.
"I honestly feel I'm in the best shape I've been since I've been at the club and now I can just look forward to the fixtures and help the club try and kick on."
McPake also said the Sky Blues' recent run of results, which has seen them unbeaten in their last four games and win four from their last five games at home, has bred an air of self-belief in the Sky Blues' dressing room.
"We honestly feel we can beat anybody," he said.
"We pay every team the respect they deserve but we don't fear anybody whether they are in the top half of the table or the bottom.
"We got a really good result on Tuesday night and we felt comfortable at the back, even in injury time, but it's important we try and take our good performances and turn them into back-to-back results so we will try to do that on Saturday against QPR."
