NEWS: Zoe's Place at Blackpool clash

Posted on: Fri 12 Feb 2010

COVENTRY City nominated charity Zoe's Place will be in attendance for the Sky Blues' clash with Blackpool on Saturday as the completion of their new hospice draws ever nearer!

Zoë's Place Trust run the only baby-specific hospices in the UK, providing 24 hour one-to-one palliative respite and terminal care to infants aged 0-5 years with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, offering short-term regular care in a home-from-home supportive environment.

And they are close to opening their doors to a brand new site in Ash Green, just a mile away from the Ricoh Arena, their first in the Midlands!

Representatives of Zoe's Place will be holding a collection for the charity at the Sky Blues' clash with the Tangerines on Saturday, January 29 to raise awareness of the cause which should see the organization open their third hospice towards the end of this summer.

The new hospice will include five cot rooms and a high dependency unit, caring for up to six babies at a time, which will equate to regular care being offered to 30-40 babies annually.

The hospice will also have a wet, dry and soft play area, a multi-sensory pod and a parental suite for families wishing to stay with the babies during difficult times.

Vicki Partridge, appeal director, said: "This is exciting news for parents of special babies across the Midlands.

"The people of Coventry should feel very proud that they will have such a wonderful care facility within their city and I would like to thank the football club for their support in letting us collect at the match.

"I hope it raises the awareness of Zoë's Place Baby Hospice and the support such special babies and their families deserve."
