COVENTRY City boss Chris Coleman said he wanted a much improved performance against Plymouth Argyle at the weekend in comparison to the 4-0 defeat the Sky Blues suffered at Home Park last season.

City went down 4-0 away to the Pilgrims last season with all of the goals coming in the first half and Coleman said he wanted his side to make amends for the performance when they return to Home Park for their latest Championship clash on Saturday.

"I certainly hope we play better down there than we did last year. That was a particularly poor afternoon for us," he said.

"It's a hard place to go, a long way from home but if you pull a result out of the bag it makes it all the better.

"The lads have been a different class recently. They've worked hard, trained hard and there has been a good team spirit so we will need to show all those qualities if we want to bring something back from Plymouth.

"They are scrapping for points as much as we are so you have to be careful, we know what they are good at, we know the crowd will be behind them because they are at home. We've just got to continue to do what we did against Peterborough and in our performance against Newcastle and we've got to start better than we did against Scunthorpe if we are to get anything out of what is going to be a tough match.

"Paul Mariner has come in and taken charge of Plymouth as well and nine times out of ten that can give a bit of a spark to a team but we just have to go down there and concentrate on ourselves and what we are capable of doing."
