GUNNARSSON: Gaffer blast had effect

Posted on: Fri 12 Feb 2010

COVENTRY City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson said the Sky Blues will need to transfer their recent second half performances to a whole 90 minutes following their stunning 3-2 win over Watford last night.

The City playmaker started for the Sky Blues as they went ahead against the Hornets through Sammy Clingan, fell 2-1 behind before half time only for a Leon Best double to reinstate Coventry's lead and put a stop to five straight defeats to the Hornets.

"The result was 100 per cent for us and we nicked the three points at the end but teams have done that to us in the past so it was nice for it to turn it around," Gunnarsson said.

"The gaffer had a good shout at us at half-time because of the way we gave up the lead and it had the right affect because we came out for the second half and bossed it really.

"We just need to make sure we take our second half performances and turn them over a whole game and we want that to start this weekend against Leicester.

"It's a derby so all the lads will be up for it and we want to try and get some more points."
