COVENTRY City's new assistant manager Steve Harrison says the club will go back to basics in a bid for Championship success.

Harrison, who has coached in the top flight and at international level, has been getting to know City's players during the first couple of days of pre-season.

But he's already told them that there is nothing complicated about his coaching style after revealing that manager Chris Coleman had played a major part in attracting him to the Ricoh Arena.

Harrison said: "I came primarily because of Chris. I admired him as a man and he really wanted me to come.

"This club will only go places if it's going places on the field.

"I think the foundations are there, I think it's all there but we need to put that together on the field of play as that's the be all and end all of success. It's about the two boxes - how you finish in one and how you defend in the other.

"It doesn't matter what you do in between, when you get to one box you've got to score and when you're in your own you need to defend.

"I like to see a fast moving, passing game - a mobile game with people interchanging and free flowing but it's mainly the tempo. I like to see tempo.

"It's simple really and I've always kept everything like this probably because I'm a simple man myself and I think players respond to simplicity!"
