SKY Blues centre-half James McPake says he just wants to get stuck into pre-season training and get all the necessary hard work out the way ahead of the new season.
The Scottish defender, who arrived from Scottish First Division side Livingston on January this year, had a stuttered start to his Coventry career through injury.
But he said he was full of enthusiasm about getting a full pre-season schedule under his belt in the hope of being as prepared as possible for when the new season starts against Ipswich Town at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, August 9.
"The first couple of days are always hard but it's good to back into it and get the first couple of sessions out of the road," he said.
" The summer was good because it gave me a chance to work on my weaknesses and injuries and I've done quite a bit of work in the break so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it will stand me in good stead.
"It's always difficult when you first come back because you get home and your legs are tired and allyou want to do is sleep, but it's all work for a reason and it sets you up well for the season ahead."
