COVENTRY City midfielder David Bell says it's now time to knuckle down and get on with the nitty gritty labour that is so essential ahead of the 2009/10 campaign.

All of Chris Coleman's squad reported for the first day of pre-season training yesterday (Wednesday) and Bell, who was rested for the final few weeks of the Sky Blues' last campaign through injury, said he was looking forward to the hard work in the hope he could back to playing as soon as possible.

A knee and ankle injury hindered his start at the club following his January move from now-League One outfit Norwich City.

But following a summer operation on the injury and plenty of rest, Bell said he wants to ensure he is as fit as possible before the season starts at home to Ipswich Town on August 9.

"Pre-season is not always nice, especially when you are doing two-a-day sessions but it's all necessary and the hard work does pay off when the season starts," he said.

"I was carrying an injury when I came here in January but I had an operation in the summer and it went really well so my main aim now is to use pre-season to get as fit as I can and hopefully make plenty more appearances."
