COLEMAN: All about the fitness now!
COVENTRY City boss Chris Coleman says he is looking forward to the start of pre-season tomorrow to kick off preparations ahead of the 2009/10 Coca-Cola Championship campaign.
The City boss will welcome his squad back to the club's Ryton training ground tomorrow for the first of a series of double training sessions with the aim of getting his side as fit as possible ahead of another campaign.
"Myself and the staff are back and a few of the lads have been popping in and out just to make sure they have kept on top of their summer fitness programmes so tomorrow we will all come back and we will see where we are," he said.
"Pre-season is always tough because you have to make sure you get the players as fit as possible but I am looking forward to it.
"We have our first pre-season game against Wrexham on July 11 so we have to make sure all of the players get plenty of minutes under their belt. It's more about the fitness than the results at this stage but it will be good to have a game of football again.
"We went on a couple of trips last pre-season because I wanted to get to know the guys a bit better but we decided to stay a bit closer to home this year so hopefully we can squeeze in as much preparation as possible and hopefully put ourselves in the best possible position to start the new season."
