NEWS: Academy boys earn pro deal
FOUR Coventry City Academy prospects start the first day of their first ever professional contracts today.
Eighteen-year-old youngsters Curtis Wynter, Adam Walker, Ashley Cain and Jermaine Grandison all made their debuts for the Sky Blues' first team during the 2008/09 campaign.
And after showing potential in their run outs for Chris Coleman's side they have all been awarded one-year professional contracts.
Midfielder Walker was the first of the crop to make his professional debut, coming on in the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the Ricoh Arena in December 2008.
Right-back Wynter made his full debut for the club in City's next game, a home 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Kidderminster Harriers just after the New Year.
Speedy winger Ashley Cain almost made a dream start to his professional Coventry City career, coming on as a substitute in the goalless draw with Charlton at the Ricoh in April 2009 and nearly snatching all three points at the death.
And centre-half Jermaine Grandison also earned his first stripes as a first-half substitute in the last day2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
