Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson hopes the inclusion of two of the Sky Blues' rising young stars in the Championship team of the season is a sign of things to come.

Full-back Danny Fox and goalkeeper Keiren Westwood were voted by their fellow professionals as the best two players in their positions this season.

It's the first time the club has ever had any player in a PFA team of the season and Ranson said it was a tribute to manager Chris Coleman and his coaching staff as well as to Fox and Westwood - and underlined City's long term ambition.

He said: "I am delighted for everyone at the club - especially Keiren and Danny. Individually, they have had very good seasons and highlight exactly what we are trying to achieve as a club.

"It's also testament to Chris Coleman and his coaching staff for the way they have brought the players on this season.

"Danny came to us from Walsall last year and settled immediately. He has improved further this season and has added goals to his game too.

"When we signed Keiren, Chris Coleman said he was the best keeper outside the Premier League and that statement raised a few eyebrows but he has been proved right. He has had a tremendous season and this backs up exactly what we thought about him when we brought him in.

"This is a great first for the club and we always knew that challenging the top teams in this division was not going to be a quick fix.

"I believe this shows that we are taking a step in the right direction and with further additions in the summer we believe we can make further improvements next season.

"Hopefully our supporters will see through what has happened in the last few weeks - the team has been ravaged by injuries - and come along and get their season tickets for next year."

Westwood said: "I am delighted. This is my first season in the Championship after I got the move to Coventry and I am made up.

"I was fortunate enough to be in the League One team last season for Carlisle and that was a massive boost.

"There is no bigger compliment than to be voted by your peers - your fellow professionals and it proves you are doing something right.

"I am pleased for Foxy too. He has been brilliant all season and fully deserves to be in there at left-back for his performances and his goals.

"It shows that your hard work doesn't go unnoticed and our aim has to be to do it again next year. We have to play well again and work hard to make people pick you again."
