Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle has praised his team-mates after their dream start to the season.

Doyle has been impressed with the Sky Blues' so far and realises that competition for places is now greater than ever.

"Look at every Premier League and Championship club - they are all strengthening and we had to the same and that has shown in the way we have started the season.

"You can't do much better than three wins out of three and there is much stronger competition for places," he said.

But the 27-year-old says he's now fit and determined to force his way into manager Chris Coleman's team.

The Irishman hopes to play a part in the Sky Blues' two home games in four days as they take on Bristol City in the Championship and Newcastle United in the Carling Cup.

"My match fitness is already coming back - I played a small part in the Barnsley and Aldershot games and have played some reserve football too.

"I've had no reaction to either problem and the medical staff are so good that I have 100 per cent confidence that I won't have a problem.

"I feel ready and really want to work my way back into the team.

"These are two really big games for us coming up. If we can get the right result against Bristol City it really sets it up nicely for the Newcastle game.

"They always bring a lot of supporters and I am sure all of our fans will want to see the Ricoh as close to capacity as possible," he added.

* Coventry City's 24-hour ticket hotline is now open and selling tickets for the next two home games.
