COVENTRY City take on Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock this afternoon in their final pre-season game before the start of the 2008/09 season next week.

Manager Chris Coleman's side ground out a goalless draw with Scottish First Division side Livingston at Almondvale Stadium on Tuesday and will complete their week-long tour of Scotland with Saturday's clash against Killie.

Jim Jeffries' outfit finished 11th in the SPL last season and have entertainined a number of English sides seeking some tune-up exercise ahead of the new season which starts next Saturday August 9.

And Coleman, who suggests he already has an idea of his starting line up for the Sky Blues' season opener next Saturday, says he will be using tomorrow's clash at Rugby Park, kick off at 3pm, to underline some final preparations.

"We know it's going to be a tough game against Kilmarnock but we have picked it that way because we want to leave nothing to chance when it comes to the first game of the season against Norwich," he said.

"The week in Scotland has gone very well and I've got a good idea who my starting 11 will be next week but we need to make sure the whole squad is ready so we can call upon all of them when we need them.

"Aron Gunnarsson has had a knock on his ankle but he has gotten plenty of minutes under his belt and he has plenty in his locker so there's no real reason to risk him tomorrow.

"But Keiren Westwood has been training and he has looked very, very good and he should play."

One City player who will not feature in Coleman's line up but will play tomorrow is Donovan Simmonds.

The young striker is expected to play against his teammates for Kilmarnock with a view to a loan move to the Scottish club.

Coleman said: "I've had a chat with Donovan and I've told him he won't be featuring in our first team because we have some strength in depth up front at the moment.

"So Kilmarnock approached us and asked  to see if they could take him on trial for a few games and we are fine with that."

Probable starting line up

Westwood; Fox, Dann, Ward, Wright; Gray, Tabb, Beuzelin, Simpson; Eastwood, Best.
