COVENTRY band richlife will be leading a showcase of up-and-coming bands from the region at an event Coventry City Football Club has organised to mark its 125th anniversary and raise money for survivors of the Chinese earthquake.

The Sky Blues will be boosting Oxfam's appeal that has been set up in the wake of the Sichuan earthquake in May in which over 60,000 people lost their lives and five million people were made homeless.

richlife will be appearing at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, July 27.

They will be joined on stage by the appropriately named indie-rock band Old Ricoh, Coventry rock and dance band Trailer, girl band Electric Dolls, alternative/rock band Haunted by Humans, rock band King Hermit and soul singer Juliette Leon from around 2.30pm until 9pm.

Warwickshire's richlife - who were the support act in the stadium bowl at the Bon Jovi concert last month - and Deride who took part in the Mercia Battle of the Bands competition will also be performing.

The day will start at 2pm when families can watch a special appearance by the Kombat Breakers, have fun on the bouncy castles and have a chance to hop aboard the bus which took the 1987 FA Cup winning squad on a tour around the city.

Sky Blues supporters will also have the opportunity to see chairman Ray Ranson, manager Chris Coleman and the likes of new goalkeeper Kieren Westwood, Dan Fox, Michael Mifsud and Leon Best from 3.30pm until 5pm and buy the new shirt from a stall inside the Jaguar Exhibition Hall.

Ray Ranson said further bands would be confirmed nearer the time.

"All the money that we raise from the ticket sales and donation boxes will be given to Oxfam to help people re-build their lives following the earthquake by reconstructing schools, roads and other key aspects of infrastructure destroyed in the earthquake, counselling survivors and focusing on preventing further disasters," he said.

"We have organised a wide range of entertainment to appeal to all the family as part of the club's 125th anniversary celebrations.

"This is a great opportunity to get the autographs of Chris Coleman and some of the players and have photographs taken with them for a small donation to help the millions affected by the disaster as well as hear some of Coventry and Warwickshire's bands of the future as they aim to follow in the footsteps of The Enemy.

"I hope as many of our supporters as possible will come along to help us celebrate this milestone in the club's history and support an extremely worthwhile charity as well as having a great time."

Tickets, costing £5 each and £2 for children under-five, can be booked on-line by clicking here, from Coventry City's ticket office at the Ricoh Arena or by telephoning 0870 421 1987 (option one) or 08444 121 747.

All the funds raised from ticket sales as well as donations on the day will be given to Oxfam to help survivors of the Chinese earthquake.
