Chris Coleman has made a plea to Coventry City fans to rally behind the Sky Blues next season.

The City boss acknowledges that last term was a huge disappointment but says that the backing of the supporters is vital if the Club are to enjoy a more successful 2008/09 campaign.

"We are a Championship club who finished at the wrong end of the league last season," said Coleman. "We know that isn't good enough and if I can promise the fans one thing it is that the same thing won't happen again.

"I always thought that the season would go down to the wire and that proved to be the case. The Charlton game on the final day was a massive disappointment but we stayed up and we are now looking forward.

"I thought our supporters were fantastic last season, at home and away, and I'd like to thank them all for backing us during what was undoubtedly a frustrating time for them.

"The supporters are incredibly important and we will need as many as possible cheering us on next year. We've been very busy so far this summer, assessing our existing squad and potential new signings and also making changes to our training facilities.

"We are really looking to move on and it would be great if our supporters could rally behind us and enjoy a far more successful season."

Coventry City fans still have another three weeks to purchase their 2008/09 season ticket at reduced "Early Bird" prices.

Last week the Club announced that season ticket numbers had passed the 8,000 mark - a figure that has continued to rise steadily over the course of the last seven days.

City supporters have until June 30 to buy a season ticket at the cheapest "Early Bird" prices. Adult season tickets are available from as little as £296 or £277 when bought in conjunction with a Junior Sky Blue ticket.
