LEON Best's fine individual display against Barnsley at the weekend has been rewarded with a place in the Coca-Cola Championship Team of the Week.

The City striker grabbed two goals and had a hand in the others as the Sky Blues hit four past the Tykes for the third successive time to move five points clear of the danger zone.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international, the recent subject of a bid from home town club Nottingham Forest, has also now committed his future to the Sky Blues.

He told Sky Blues World: "We needed a confidence boost and I think everybody took a lot of confidence from the game.

"I was delighted with the two goals. Frank (Bunn) always tells me to shoot through people, that's what I did and luckily it went into the corner.

"The second goal was nice. I had a feeling the defender would dive in early so I nicked the ball past him and managed to beat the keeper.

"The reception the fans gave me before the game gave me a big lift and I want to thank them for that because I wasn't sure what to expect.

"I think it showed my head is in the right place now. I just want to concentrate on playing for Coventry City and hopefully I can get more goals this season."

He added: "The Forest thing is definitely put to bed now. I was flattered by the interest from my home town club who I have supported from my young days.

"There were a lot of things behind it but everyone knows I am here, and here to stay."
