City boss Iain Dowie believes striker Leon Best can be a key player for the Sky Blues this season.

The 21-year-old star has struggled with injuries since making a summer switch from Southampton but scored two goals on his return to the side in Tuesday's 4-2 triumph over West Brom at the Hawthorns.

And Dowie feels Best possesses huge promise, saying: "Leon grew into the game and showed why we brought him to the club.

"His first goal was an outstanding finish and the second one was all about deftness in front of goal to lift the ball over the goalkeeper.

"I think he also deserved a lot of credit for the fourth goal. He showed that he wasn't frightened to put his body on the line to get the ball to Michael Mifsud despite only just coming back from injury.

"We think he has fantastic potential and his record shows he does get goals."
