The FA Transfer Tribunal committee has ruled City will pay an initial £40,000 to Cambridge United for new signing Robbie Simpson.

The total compensation package could rise to £130,000 based on appearances while the U's will receive a 5% sell-on clause.

Simpson shot to fame in the Conference last season after hitting 17 goals in just 28 appearances - 15 of which came during the second half of the season.

The 22-year-old striker agreed terms with the Sky Blues in June and is expected to make his debut in next Wednesday's pre-season friendly opener at Shrewsbury Town.

Managing Director Paul Fletcher said he was very pleased with the outcome of the tribunal.

"I think it shows that the Club's offer for Robbie's registration was fair and that today's outcome and the level of compensation reflects that."
