COVENTRY City are still winless in 2010 after three second half goals handed Cardiff City victory at the Alan Higgs Centre.
The Sky Blues contained the visitors in the opening 45 minutes but three strikes in the last half hour put pair to any hopes of a points return for Gregor Rioch's side.
City started positively and could have taken the lead after ten minutes when Callum Wilson threw out a leg at Nathan Cameron's long range effort.
Speedy strike partner Rob Ogleby then went close three minutes later with a right foot shot that went just past the post.
The Bluebirds were infact restricted to just one chance in the first half when Nathaniel Jarvis headed over from six yards out with two minutes to go until the break.
Rioch's side, who were without Connor Thomas on international England Under 17s duty, could have taken the lead two minutes after the restart when Luke Bottomer sent a 20-yard pile driver narrowly wide of the keeper's right hand post.
Jacob Blackwell narrowly failed to steer a Conor Gudger free kick goalwards in 57th minute but then Cardiff took the lead against the run of play when Zac Evans got down the left and sent over a cross from 25 yards which went into the far corner of the net.
With 15 minutes left, City conceded a free kick on the left and Nat Jarvis slid in to finish off the daisy cutter.
And two became three eight minutes to go when Evans was brought down and awarded a penalty which Ibrahim Farah duly dispatched.
