COVENTRY City Under 18s have yet to register a point in 2010 after suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Reading on Saturday.
The Sky Blues were coming off the back of a heavy defeat the previous week against Tottenham Hotspur and a goal from the Royals' Angus McDonald ten minutes into the second half made it consecutive defeats for Gregor Rioch's side.
The Sky Blues started cautiously but carved open a chance after 15 minutes when a good ball from Joel Grandison played in Luke Bottomer for a shot which went just wide off the keeper's right post.
Nathan Cameron ensured the offside trap was well employed by the City defence and although Reading had a goal disallowed for offside in the 42nd minute, the Sky Blues looked good going into the break.
It was the hosts who opened the second half the stronger of the two sides, Oliver Keely denied with a good stop from City 'keeper Michael Quirke.
Quirke was beaten after 56 minutes though when McDonald connected with a corner to send a direct header into the net.
Callum Wilson beat the offside trap in an attempt to get an equalizer but could not beat the visiting 'keeper and Grandison also fired across the face of goal.
City's efforts to salvage a point were effectively put to be though with five minutes to go when Suleiman Leluu was given his marching orders.
