COVENTRY City Under 18s put the stoppers on a recent run of three straight league defeats with a goalless draw at home to Watford on Saturday.
Gregor Rioch's side had the better of the chances in the first 45 minutes when captain Nathan Cameron saw an effort deflected wide after 11 minutes with Luke Bottomer's shot saved ten minutes later.
Visiting 'keeper Bond also pulled out a good stop to deny Jacob Blackwell after 24 minutes and Cameron, who scored in the midweek FA Youth Cup defeat to Leicester, also stroked a shot wide after a free-kick delivery from Gael Bigirimana.
Hornets striker Matt Whichelow scuppered two good chances for the visitors early in the second half but City 'keeper Michael Quirke also had to be on form to deny two more efforts to keep the game at a level pegging.
The Sky Blues had the ball in the net with 15 minutes to go, substitute Rob Ogleby racing onto a through ball and tapping a shot into an empty net although the strike was disallowed for an adjudged foul on the Watford 'keeper.
And City also went close to snatching a winner in the games' closing stages, repeatedly firing the ball into the penalty area looking to unsettle the Watford defence but lacking a final killer touch.
