City striker extends his stay at the club with new deal after blistering start to the 2013/14 campaign

Coventry City striker Callum Wilson has signed a new deal which keeps him with the Sky Blues until 2015 with the club retaining the option to extend until 2016.

The 21-year-old has penned the extension to his current deal after a blistering start to the 2013/14 campaign which sees him joint top of the League One goalscorers chart with ten goals.

Wilson has formed an extremely profitable upfront partnership with fellow striker Leon Clarke with the pair amassing 19 goals between them so far this season.

City boss Steven Pressley said he was delighted to extend Wilson's stay at the club after his incredible run of form.

"Callum has been magnificent for us this season. He's a great kid, he deserves this new deal and we're absolutely delighted that he has accepted it," Pressley said.

"He has been an integral part in our climb up the table so far and with him now having committed his future to us hopefully he can help us continue the run of form we have been on.

"Nobody has been more pleased than me with the way he has formed such an understanding with Leon Clarke upfront and I know fans want to see that continue.

"He's a Coventry boy with a desire to see Coventry City succeed and he has displayed exactly the kind of mentality and work ethic that I want to be the cornerstone of this club."
