Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed captain Carl Baker is a doubt for Sunday's match against Brentford.

The City captain has made six appearances so far this season, including one goal in the Capital One Cup against Leyton Orient.

With Adam Barton and Billy Daniels also a doubt for the match against the Bees, Pressley is lacking options in the City midfield.

Despite the injury, Pressley is confident Baker will be in contention for the match on Sunday as City look to stretch their unbeaten run at Sixfields.

The City boss said: "The positive news on his injury is that it is not as bad as we first thought. It was one which came to our attention after the Port Vale game.

"He hasn't been able to train this week but we are hoping he can come in to training before the game and we will monitor his progress.

"We are hopeful he will be able to make the game and play as he has been a huge part of what we have been doing this season.

"Of course, being the captain, we would prefer him to be out there on the pitch so it would be major boost if he could play."

The Sky Blues lost their first game in six matches at Vale Park last Saturday, as Doug Loft and Chris Birchall netted in the second half to condemn City to defeat.

Franck Moussa and Callum Wilson netted for the Sky Blues during the defeat and Pressley maintains the loss hasn't changed the atmosphere at the club.

He continued: "I have spoke about it on numerous occasions but there appears to be a really good atmosphere at the club.

"We have a lot of players who are currently enjoying their football and that probably comes from the young core of the side.

"The spirit has been first class and it has been a pleasure to work with this group of players as I feel everyone of them has brought into the style of play I have tried to introduce here.

"It was a set-back against Port Vale but part of young players' progression is having these set-backs, and finding the right way to respond. We will be looking for that response this weekend."
