'We have greatly improved' - Pressley

10 January 2014

The City boss Steven Pressley believes his side are a different team from the one on the opening day of the season...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley believes his City side has 'improved greatly' since the opening day 3-2 defeat against Crawley Town.

The Sky Blues welcome John Gregory's side to Sixfields on Sunday, looking to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to five games.

City traveled to the Broadfield Stadium on the opening day of the season and were denied a point by a late Mike Jones goal.

The City boss believes it will be a different game from the opening day as his side has improved throughout the season.

Pressley said: "You look at them now and they've probably improved since the opening day. But we have improved greatly.

"They are a good side who have picked up some good results lately, including a win over Leyton Orient in their last away league game, so it is going to be a really difficult test.

"They've won two of the last three league games and they have got a new manager in which always lifts a place.

"We are going to have to be at our usual best if we are going to come away from the game with a result."

The Red Devils are just three points behind Coventry in the League One table, currently placed in 13th position.

City have scored more than double the amount of goals Crawley have scored this season, but Pressley is still wary of their goal threat.

He added: "Their biggest strength is their aerial threat as they have scored most of their goals from corner kicks this season.

"They have highest percentages of crosses into your box this season. They like to get the ball forward quickly and then promote their full-backs from an advanced position.

"They will make us defend and they are very good at what they do. We need to make sure we are aware of the threat on the day and stick to our jobs on the day."
