'Trialists will play in Under-21s'

City boss Steven Pressley has also confirmed he can bring in up to two players...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley confirmed he has the green light to add to his squad after two players left the club.

Chris Dunn and William Edjenguele both had their contracts terminated which has cleared up space under the current transfer restrictions imposed by the Football League.

The club has received permission under the ‘one-out-one-in’ clause of the current transfer embargo so they could pool up to 75-per-cent of that pair’s wages to bring in one player on a higher salary, subject to Football League approval.

Pressley has brought in a Brazilian striker and Portuguese Winger on trial, but stresses he will not be rushed into signing anybody.

The City boss said: "My intention is definitely to recruit but we have to make sure we bring in the right type of player.

"We have two trialists in at the moment, a Brazilian striker and a Portuguese winger, and we are going to have a look at them.

"We will continue to assess the market but I think over the next two weeks, there are going to be a lot of changes and players moving around.

"They have to fit into the group here. We have brought in two players already and they are proving to be great additions so we have to look to use these slots wisely."

Coventry City Under-21s play against Crewe Alexandra tomorrow night (K.O 7pm) at Nuneaton Town's Liberty Way.

Pressley confirmed the trialists will get a chance to impress whilst former Hearts defender Robbie Neilson, who is currently training with the club, will also take part.

He added: "We have got a game tomorrow night at Nuneaton for the Under-21s so that will provide us with the opportunity to have a good look at them.

"Robbie Neilson, who is a good friend of mine, has came down to train with the squad for a couple of weeks and he is a terrific professional to have about the place.

"He will play as I think having him next to some of the younger players will help them. It is a great chance for any of the players involved with the Under-21s to stake a claim.

"We are all about progressing talent at the club and I want to see the younger players try and claim an opportunity."
