The City boss also wants fans to enjoy coming to home matches and expecting the Sky Blues to win regularly during the 2015/16 season...

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has set his sights on promotion from League One after signing a two-year deal with the club.

The Sky Blues boss signed the new deal with the club following the club's survival in League One with the final day victory over Crawley Town.

Since joining the club in March, Mowbray has only suffered four defeats in 14 matches, which included an away run of four wins in six undefeated matches.

With season ticket prices reduced by 25% for the 2015/16 season, Mowbray wants to build a team which fans can 'expect' to win regularly at the Ricoh Arena.

The City boss said: "The aim is to get out of this league as quickly as possible, and get into the Championship.

"Two years is enough time in my mind to build a squad which will be image of what you plan for and want.

"What I want is for fans to enjoy coming to the Ricoh Arena and expect our team to win games, which hasn't happened enough over recent years.

"One day, when I leave this club, I'm sure the club will be in a much stronger position than it is now, not just in terms of league position but also the structure in the club."

The club released it's retained list earlier in the week which showed eight players will leave the club this summer whilst talks will be held with Marcus Tudgay, Reda Johnson, Ivor Lawton and Chris Stokes.

Looking to the future recruitment strategy, Mowbray wants to see a more consistent squad basis to work from with longer contracts.

He added: "It is important to build a club where you have value in the contract of your players and make sure you've got a consistent basis to work from.

"We can't have a situation where the majority of your squad leaves at the end of the season as it hampers building a club mentality.

"We've got to put a structure into when we sell players, when we keep players and when we sign players. It all has to be part of a bigger strategy.

"We need to have timelines of players' contracts and when they're running out so you can look to extend, replace and sell on to get more money to spend on the squad. It is a crucial area which will be looked at."
