"We're disappointed with the draw, we need to start winning games soon." - Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray

The City boss also praised AFC Bournemouth loanee Baily Cargill following the 1-1 draw against Port Vale...

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray was disappointed with just the point after the 1-1 draw against Port Vale.

The Sky Blues were held at Vale Park to stop a run of three straight defeats as Jacob Murphy put the Sky Blues ahead in the first-half.

Sam Kelly found the top corner from 25 yards to claim a late point for the Valiants as goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook pulled off a string of fine saves.

Mowbray admitted the Sky Blues changed tactics to let Vale have more of the ball as they looked to create space in behind.

The City boss said: "It was going to take something pretty special to beat Reice today so we're disappointed with the draw..

"We changed tactics as we've been working on ways to win matches. Today, we let them have the ball and play with us looking to create space in behind.

"If you think back to earlier in the season, we scored a lot of goals through breaking away and using our speed to get behind, and that's what we looked to do today.

"I thought we did that ok at times and we probably should have scored a few more as we've had a few great chances and one cleared off the line at the end."

Baily Cargill and Jack Stephens made their debuts for the Sky Blues and Mowbray praised the AFC Bournemouth defender.

He added: "I'd have to say Baily was magnificent. He was solid and he's got a good left foot who can find a pass and is physical strong as well.

"We took Jack out of his more natural position today and I thought he did ok, broke up a lot of their play. He hasn't played a lot of football this year and it showed at times but he'll get better with more minutes.

"It's important to collect points from games like this but we've got 16 games to go and we need to start winning games."
