Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has defended midfielder John Fleck following the 2-2 draw against Doncaster Rovers.

Adam Armstrong put the Sky Blues ahead before Nathan Tyson equalised for Donny just after the break, following in Andy Williams’ effort.

John Fleck put City back in front but it was Fleck’s error which led to Tyson claiming a brace at the Ricoh Arena as the Sky Blues stay top of League One with a point.

The City boss said: “It is a frustrated dressing room in there as the players knew they could get all three points today but it wasn’t to be.

“You will have days like today in a season so we’ve got to accept that and move on. We’ve got to look at the wider picture and enjoy where we are in the league at the moment.

“John Fleck has been brilliant all season for us and he is disappointed in himself today. It was a mistake but his performance has been brilliant today and he’ll get over it.

“We had plenty of opportunities to put the game to bed, Adam goes clean through when we’re 1-0 up and we couldn’t take the chance.”

The Sky Blues are now unbeaten in 10 games at home and are 11 games unbeaten, which is the best run of form since 1967.

Mowbray continued, stating Fleck has been one of the best players for the Sky Blues this season.

He added: “That’s the way we play. It’s unusual for John to make an error like that but that happens. It’s just a loss in concentration really because technically, he is very gifted.

“He could have done a host of things at the time as he wasn’t under that much pressure, but it didn’t work for him. I don’t apportion any blame to John, he’s been one of our best players this season.

“We’re still unbeaten at home and we should round on the positives. They set up to defend in numbers and they made it difficult for us today so we’ll dust ourselves down and move on.”
