"A message to the fans would be that more are on the way. We're working hard." - Coventry City's Tony Mowbray

The Sky Blues suffered a narrow defeat to Cambridge United thanks to a first-half header from Leon Legge...

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed the club are still working on bringing in more additions.

The Sky Blues boss was speaking after he saw his side suffer a 1-0 defeat against Cambridge United, with Leon Legge heading home the only goal in the first-half.

City dominated much of the game but were missing that presence up front, with new loan signing Adam Armstrong unavailable for tonight's game.

Hours after sealing his fifth summer signing, Mowbray confirmed the Sky Blues are still after forward options.

The City boss said: "I thought we played well tonight and the patterns which we've been working on has been coming together.

"You could say we haven't scored a goal but on another night, we win the game comfortably. We created more than enough chances to win a number of games.

"We're aware we still need a few forward options. We've got one striker in but the search goes on.

"We're working very hard behind the scenes to make sure we find those players we need and bring them in, but like I've said before, they need to be right."

A Coventry City XI will head to Leamington FC tomorrow before City's final pre-season game of the summer at Nuneaton against Oxford United.

The City boss continued: "I think we need a player who can run in behind and benefit from the likes of Maddison and Lameiras as we create plenty of opportunities.

"They're players which are hopefully just about there in terms of coming to the club. A message to the fans is that we're working very hard for that and I'm pretty sure they're coming.

"One or two of them who we're talking to clubs about might have to wait until after the Wigan game but we need the right ones in."
