The City boss has also confirmed he has decided on a formation for tomorrow's game...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed the club are still in the market for a central defender and a striker ahead of tomorrow's first game of the season against Bradford City.

The Sky Blues begin their 2014/15 League One campaign at Valley Parade tomorrow after a pre-season which included wins over AS Roma B, Watford and Bristol Rovers.

The City boss has made nine new signings this summer as he looks to improve on last season's 18th place finish which was achieved with a ten-point deduction.

As Pressley continues to prepare his squad for tomorrow's trip, the City boss confirmed he is hoping to see more signings before the end of the transfer window.

Pressley said: "I've been really happy at the progress we've made this pre-season and all the signings have settled in really well.

"We'd like to bring in more players before the end of the transfer window. I want to bring in another central defender and of course, a striker.

"We need to have options and depth in every position. There are around two or three strikers we're really interested in and we will monitor them over the next few weeks.

"There is always a curve-ball towards the end of the transfer window where a player comes available who we didn't expect so it is important to keep the options open."

Summer signings Reda Johnson, Danny Pugh, Danny Swanson, Jim O'Brien, Shaun Miller, Marcus Tudgay and Josh McQuoid are all in contention to start tomorrow against the Bantams.

Pressley believes his squad are ready for the start of the season and says he has decided on the formation he will start the season with.

He added: "We're ready and we're looking forward to it. I've decided on the formation we're going to use after a discussion with the coaching staff.

"Because of the pre-season we've had, there are many positives to having the flexibility with the two formations we've played with.

"It gives us the option to be able to change the system based on the team we're playing against, something we weren't able to do last season.

"It is a great game to start the season with as we've got to be right at it from day one."
