'The squad is just right' - Pressley

7 February 2014

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley has urged his side to show some respect to Notts County tomorrow...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has urged his side to 'find a way to win' ahead of the Notts County game this weekend.

The Sky Blues go into the game on the back of an impressive 2-1 win at Ashton Gate over Bristol City in midweek.

City are currently placed in 10th position in League One, just nine points outside the play-offs and with a game in hand over many teams above them.

Notts County are in the League One relegation zone but have recorded wins over Bradford City and Sheffield United recently.

With conditions set to be difficult at Meadow Lane, Pressley wants to see the same 'positive mentality' City had at Ashton Gate.

The City boss said: "We had to battle to get a result at Bristol in midweek and I want to see the same again. It was a difficult pitch to play on and our passing game is usually helped by a good pitch.

"But we overcame that with a strong positive mentality and we were still able to play at an intensity which was impressive.

"They're a good side. I know they're down near the bottom of the table but that is testament to how strong the league is this season.

"(Callum) McGregor, who has come down from Celtic, has had a fantastic season, scoring plenty of goals from midfield so he will be a threat.

"They're an improving side so we have to give them all the respect they deserve and make sure we are at our very best on the day."

The City boss was able to bring in to the club Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch, Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso and free agent Mark Marshall over the last few weeks.

Pressley believes the squad has never looked so healthy and is delighted to have options on the bench.

He added: "It is an important time in the season as we have a good chance to get a few results together.

"We have got some bodies in the building now and I believe the squad has the right balance at the moment.

"I have options I can bring on during a game which is good for the side as it means giving a few players a bit of a time-out.

"I think the squad we've had was a bit too small but now I think we have the right amount of bodies in so we continue to pick up results until the end of the season."
