Sky Blues boss delighted with point at MK Dons as he wants to return to the Ricoh Arena with undefeated run
Coventry City boss Steven Pressley says he hopes a well-earned point at MK Dons will help his side build momentum ahead of next Friday's return to the Ricoh Arena.
The Sky Blues played out a tense goalless draw at stadium:mk but Pressley said he was delighted with his players' commitment and desire to do the 'dirty' jobs and earna point against a side he considers as one of the best in League One.
"This was a game of two very good teams, played to a very high standard for a League One game and one thing I believe is it's a really good point on our travels because MK Dons are one of the best sides in the division," he said.
"They have recruited extremely well over the summer and this time of year the pitches are well suited to the passing style of football so I knew this would be a real, real test for us.
"I really am pleased with my players because they displayed commitment and application in doing the dirty side of the game which was brilliant. We can always improve on our final decisions, counter attacks and ball retention but a good start to building foundations is keeping clean sheets along with agood work ethic and delighted with the way the players applied that.
"We were resolute and we pressed the game magnificently at times. MK Dons like to play through the departments but we dealt with that and we dealt with the long balls so all in all it's been a very good point in what's been a tough start for us having played what I think are three or four of the best sides in the division."
Pressley also drew attention to the 3,000-plus travelling Sky Blues fans who made the trip to Milton Keynes, in bouyant mood following Thursday's confirmation the club will be returning to the Ricoh Arena for their home clash with Gillingham a week on Friday.
"The supporters played a terrific role today. You could see our performance in the second half was greater because we were playing towards our own fans. What we want now is momentum so with us going three games unbeaten, hopefully going a fourth next Saturday, it would be terrific to rteurn to the Ricoh next Friday with that type of run behind us."
