Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has praised the debut duo, Sanmi Odelusi and Dominic Samuel, after the entertaining 2-2 draw against Rochdale at the Ricoh Arena.
The Sky Blues went ahead through Reading loanee Samuel when he followed up and found the top corner in the 23rd minute, only for Lee Camps to follow nine minutes later.
Before the half-time break, Odelusi took centre-stage when he produced a fantastic turn and finish from the edge of the area in the 38th minute.
Substitute Calvin Andrew equalised for Rochdale in the second-half and Pressley admitted he was disappointed not to claim an all-important home win.
Pressley said: "It was an entertaining contest and an extremely good game of football. Both sides were desperate to win the game and had chances at the end to win it.
"Having been ahead twice, we've got to be disappointed not to win the game. I spoke to the players during the week about our home form and the fact we haven't won at home in the league since Peterborough is simply not good enough.
"There were a lot of good things. The ingredient we've been missing is pace and we had that today which made a great difference to the way we played.
"The players worked exceptionally hard today and in terms of excitement, it was far more like the Coventry City that we'd like to see every week."
City, who are set to busy in the remaining days of the transfer window, signed Odelusi and Samuel on emergency loans this week.
The City boss has praised the impact of the debuts and believes there are positives to take forward into the Preston North End game.
He added: "Dominic Samuel was very good in front of goal and his finish for the goal was sensational. It was a great debut for him.
"It was a typical striker's finish, following things up after a great move by Jim O'Brien and Frank Nouble, and he had a great opportunity in the second half as well and was unlucky not to get a second.
"Sanmi was brilliant in the first-half and took his goal brilliantly. After 60 minutes, he really tired and wasn't able to get the press that we needed in the forward areas. He said in the dressing room that he had gone by that time but it's understandable.
"I was really pleased with both players on their debut and there are a lot of positives to take forward."
