The City boss has also stated he will only be concentrating on the next game over the busy Christmas period...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has admitted he has a selection problem ahead of the Doncaster Rovers Boxing Day trip.

Both striker Simeon Jackson and midfielder James Maddison came on during the second-half of the 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town and impressed.

The Canadian international striker notched his third goal of the season to level the tie and Maddison, City Academy graduate, almost won the game in the final minute, but his free-kick was deflected over the bar.

City boss Pressley expressed an eagerness to see that response to create selection headaches, but also admits that in the case of Maddison, he wants to manage him properly.

He continued: "The thing with substitutes, I want them to say I want to play next game. That's exactly what Simeon and James did, it gives myself a problem when picking the teams, that's the correct response when you're out of the side.

"I think James said he wanted to start in his performance. I've still got to decide and manage him correctly but he's such an exciting player molded in our way and our demands. He's a player that, not in an arrogant way believes hes a good player I like that self-confidence.

"That's shown when he is brushing senior members away for free-kicks and that shows his confidence. James knows how highly we rate him about nurturing that talent to get the very best out of him."

City face the difficult task of two games in two days with a home game at the Ricoh Arena against Chesterfield on Sunday, December 28th.

Pressley says his only concern is the next game and that he wants the team's current form to continue to improve.

He added: "We have got an opportunity but we continue to say that and that's why I don't look beyond the next game at the moment.

"Although our form in the league of late has been reasonable, I still believe it can be much better. We show glimpses of what we can do but we need to develop that further.

"You can plan over the Christmas period and try and total up points from each game but football doesn't work like that.

"The truth is, it is about winning the next game and only that, and next we've got a tough trip to Doncaster and that is our only concern at the moment."
