Coventry City have snapped up experienced defender Peter Ramage on a free transfer.

The Sky Blues have signed the 32-year old centre-back on a deal until June 30th, 2016.

Ramage started his career at Newcastle United and went on to make over 50 appearances for the Magpies before joining Queens Park Rangers in 2008.

He has also had spells with Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Barnsley before moving to the Indian Super League in the summer with Kerala Blasters.

Ramage joined the Sky Blues on trial over a week ago and City manager Tony Mowbray has been impressed by the centre-back.

Mowbray said: "We're delighted to get Peter into the club as he has really impressed during his time training with us.

"He has a wealth of experience behind him, with clubs in the Premier League or Championship which will be invaluable to the squad as the season progresses.

"One of my main objectives in this transfer window was to add to our defensive options as we've been short in that area, especially over the Christmas period.

"Peter is a player who I see challenging for a spot in my starting XI week-in, week-out and I'm looking forward to working with him."
