SIGNING: Coventry City sign Ruben Lameiras on a two-year deal following a successful trial

The Sky Blues have snapped up the former Tottenham Hotspur man after impressing the City management staff...

Coventry City have signed Ruben Lameiras on a two-year deal following a successful trial.

The 20-year old, who can play in a variety of positions across the forward line and in midfield, joins the Sky Blues ahead of the 2015/16 League One season.

Lisborn-born, Lameiras joined Tottenham Hotspur's Academy in June 2011 before signing a professional deal with the Premier League club in June 2014.

After several appearances for Tottenham's Under-21's side, Lameiras spent time with Swedish Allsvensken side Atvidabergs in March where he made 14 appearances in the Swedish top flight.

He joined the Sky Blues on trial last week, featuring in the friendly games against Nuneaton Town and Portsmouth, where he's impressed manager Tony Mowbray.

The City boss said: "We've had the chance to work with Ruben for more than a week now and in that time, he has really impressed us.

"In the games he has played with us, he has been bright and carries a real threat on the ball, like he showed in the second-half against Portsmouth.

"He's got a great work ethic and whilst we know he isn't the finished article, we see plenty of potential for him to progress with us and make an impact.

"Ruben can play central or on the wings so once again, we've got another player who can be a valuable option for us across the park."
