The 27-year old rejoins the Sky Blues until January 3rd as Tony Mowbray bolsters his defensive options...

Coventry City have signed Cardiff City defender Ben Turner on a emergency loan deal until January, subject to FIFA clearance.

The Sky Blues have secured the 27-year old's services until January 3rd as the former City Academy graduate returns to the club.

Turner came through the Sky Blues Academy and made his debut for the club in August 2006 against Stoke City before spending time on loan at Peterborough United and Oldham Athletic.

The Birmingham-born centre-back became a regular for the Sky Blues, making 72 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals before moving to the Bluebirds in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee.

Turner impressed during Cardiff City's spell in the Premier League and has made over 110 appearances in the Welsh capital.

City boss Tony Mowbray said: "It's been no secret that we've been looking to add to our defensive options since Reda Johnson suffered a long-term injury.

"I've been aware of Ben's abilities for a long time and he is a player who can definitely add quality to our defensive line, as well as his physical attributes.

"I'm hopeful Ben can help the defence keep clean sheets during a crucial period and I'm sure he is looking forward to putting on the Sky Blue shirt once again."
