Coventry City have agreed a deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Joe Cole on a 35-day emergency loan deal.

The Sky Blues will sign the former England international on Monday on a loan deal until November 22nd and Cole will be at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow to watch the Sky Blues take on Blackpool.

The 33-year old started his career at West Ham before moving to Chelsea in 2003 where he went on to make 183 league appearances for the Blues, scoring 28 goals.

After seven years at Stamford Bridge, moves to Liverpool and a loan spell to French Ligue 1 side Lille followed before rejoining boyhood club West Ham in 2013.

He made 31 appearances in a one-year spell at Upton Park, scoring five goals before he moved to Aston Villa in June 2014. Cole has also enjoyed a fantastic international career with 56 caps for England, scoring 10 goals for the Three Lions.

City manager Tony Mowbray said: "I'm delighted to welcome such a high-calibre player to the club.

"Joe has a great pedigree, both on the domestic and international stage, and I'm sure he'll have a fantastic impact during his time at the club.

"I've met with Joe and he has watched us play several times this season. He likes the way we play the game and because of that, he has shown a real enthusium to come and play for the club.

"He's a player who will give us another option in the forward areas and I'm sure the squad are looking forward to working with him.

"We've got plenty of games coming up which will be crucial to us maintaining our early-season form and I'm looking forward to seeing Joe in action for the Sky Blues."
