Richard Shaw leaves Coventry City after change to management structure

Coventry City today announced that Richard Shaw has left the club.

The former centre half arrived at the Ricoh Arena this summer as assistant manager.

But under a review by new boss Mark Robins, the role has been made redundant and Shaw has therefore left with immediate effect.

Development Director Steve Waggott said that Robins had reviewed the management structure in the weeks following his appointment.

Waggott said: “Mark has worked with the current staff for several weeks but had told the board on his arrival that he would review the way things were organised and the shape of the structure.

“He has done just that and really taken his time to assess how he believes he can best deliver success for Coventry City.

“He felt that he needed a flatter management structure and within that there was no need for an assistant manager role.

“Richard was told yesterday, we wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts during a testing time for the club.”
