Coventry City Season Ticket sales a fifth of the way to target, with 1200 currently sold

The Sky Blues have sold 1200 Season Tickets, a fifth of their target figure. See what Steve Waggott says here...

Coventry City have hit the 1,200 mark in their Season Ticket sales and are a fifth of the way to their 6,000 target.

The Sky Blues have seen an encouraging flow of sales since they made Season Tickets available at the early bird price which, at £249 for adults, is a reduction of more than 25 per cent.

The confirmation that Tony Mowbray was the club’s permanent manager also saw a spike in fans snapping up Season Tickets, which are the fourth cheapest in League One.

And with more than a month left of the early bird offer (it finishes on June 30), chief executive Steve Waggott said the reduction in price and the appointment of Mowbray were key factors.

He said: “We are very much looking forward and, as someone who speaks regularly to supporters, I can feel a real sense of optimism ahead of next season.

“That has been reflected in a strong start to Season Ticket sales but we have to continue to work as hard as we possibly can to drive further sales before that early bird deadline.

“I made a commitment to make football more affordable for our fans and the reduction in Season Ticket prices was a real statement from Coventry City to our supporters – and it’s clear they are
buying into that, along with the arrival of Tony Mowbray.

“We have set a target of 6,000 Season Tickets and the early sign – just a few weeks in – suggests we have every chance of hitting that.

“Revenue is everything to a club in League One and the more Season Tickets we sell, the stronger the budget we will have for Tony.

“He has been on holiday for a few days since his appointment but we have targets identified and will be ready to bring in the first new signings of the summer very soon.”

The club introduced a flat rate for Season Tickets of £249 for adults who buy in the early-bird period, which is £96 cheaper than a standard zone Season Ticket last season and equates to less than £11 per match.

There is no longer a premium zone at the Ricoh Arena as blocks 19, 20 and 21 will enjoy standard zone pricing, while the family zone is moving to blocks 23 and 24 in the East Stand.
And the club’s commitment to attracting the next generation of Coventry City fans remains firm, with Junior Sky Blues (JSBs) under the age of 12 eligible for a free Season Ticket in the family zone.

JSBs aged between 12 and 16 have seen their Season Tickets in the family zone reduced to £23, which is just £1 per game.

Concessions Season Tickets have also dropped to £191 from £230 in the standard zone last season, and that equates to just over £8 per game.

Early Bird Season Tickets are now on sale and will rise to full price on Wednesday, July 1.
