"The manager has made a really big impact, but we need to put things right on Tuesday night." Coventry City's Sanmi Odelusi

Odelusi netted for the Sky Blues after coming off the bench and now wants to get a run of games as he returns from injury...

Coventry City midfielder Sanmi Odelusi was bitterly disappointed the Sky Blues couldn't get three points in Tony Mowbray's first game as Coventry City manager.

Odelusi came off the bench in the 3-2 defeat to Port Vale at the Ricoh Arena and scored shortly after coming on to draw City level in the game.

Despite the result, the 21-year old has been impressed with manager Mowbray's impact on the squad and wants to put things right against Bradford on Tuesday night.

"We got the fans off their seats at times and in the last 15 minutes we thought we're going to nick the three points," Odelusi said.

"It's part and parcel of football, one minute you're up there and pressing, the next minute you give away a sloppy goal.

"The manager has made a really big impact since coming in, he speaks words that put fire in the belly and urges you to play well for the fans, our families and ourselves.

"The way we played up top was good at times, the gaffer wanted that. He wanted us to be powerful and explosive, now we have to put things right on Tuesday night.

"It's a good thing having the game on Tuesday, you're not spending time thinking about it for six or seven days and we need to get a result."

Odelusi's goal came just eight minutes after coming off the bench, now the midfielder is eager to make and impact from the start after a long injury lay-off.

The Bolton Wanderers loanee has featured in the club's last two games after a hamstring injury kept him out of action since his debut against Rochdale.

Now fully fit, Odelusi is eager to help steer City away from relegation and believes that the other young players at the club are hungry to drag the Sky Blues away from the drop.

He continued: "Obviously I want first-team minutes, I'm making an impact and that's pretty ideal and what I want to do.

"I'm feeling fresh, fully fit and want to push on from here.

"To be fair I am pleased with my goal but it isn't worth anything as we didn't get the three points, that will play on my mind now and the defeat is what you think about.

"We're confident we can stay up of course. We've got good players and hungry young players here.

"At the same time, days like this are what makes us into men, we're at that age bracket where we're still learning and me and the other young players are eager to get us away from the drop zone."
