The City loanee is looking to push Lee Burge all the way for the City No.1 spot...

Coventry City's new signing Ryan Allsop has revealed he is enjoying working with City legend and goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic.

The 22-year old signed a one-year loan deal on Friday with the Sky Blues from Championship side AFC Bournemouth.

The Birmingham-born keeper came through West Bromwich Albion's Academy before going on to have spells at Millwall, Leyton Orient and the Cherries.

Having settled into his new environment at the club, Allsop is looking forward to challenging Lee Burge for the No.1 spot.

Allsop said: "I was delighted to get the deal done so I can come here and get games for the club. It is a massive club and the set-up here is unbelievable.

"I've been really impressed with the quality of the squad. The players like to receive the ball in tight spaces and they're always looking to test each other.

"Lee (Burge) is a top lad and from what I've seen, he is a really good goalkeeper. He works really hard and I think it'll be good competition for both of us.

"We both want to claim the No.1 spot and I'm sure we will push ourselves to get better over the coming weeks."

Allsop was part of the promotion-winning AFC Bournemouth side from League One to the Championship in the 2012/13 League One season.

The City loanee believes the main aim of the squad has to be promotion whilst also admitting he is enjoying being pushed by Steve Ogrizovic.

He added: "If you look at the set-up and the players in the squad, the aim has to be promotion this season.

"The quality is here and we know the manager is looking to add to the squad as well so we should be right up there in League One.

"I've enjoyed working with Oggy. He works you hard and he doesn't let you rest or get anything wrong.

"Obviously, he's got a lot of knowledge of the game so he is someone I can learn from and improve."
