"We've got to build on that point and win games before returning to the Ricoh Arena." - Coventry City's Ryan Allsop

The City keeper has praised the defensive performance against MK Dons and believes they should build on the point against Swindon Town....

Coventry City goalkeeper Ryan Allsop believes the point gained at MK Dons will be crucial towards the end of the 2014/15 League One season.

The Sky Blues battled to a point against the Dons, despite a last minute effort from City striker Simeon Jackson which almost crept in the near post.

Allsop pulled off some impressive saves during the game to deny the Dons as he tipped over a Ben Reeves header and palmed away Dean Bowditch's powerful effort in the second-half.

Having beat Sheffield United and drew against Barnsley and MK Dons, Allsop believes City have had a solid start to the season and says the squad should build on the point.

Allsop said: "This is a tough place to come and if you come here and get a point, you're usually there or thereabouts at the top of the league come the end of the season.

"It may not feel like it now but when we go through the season and if we're up there challenging for promotion, this will be a crucial point.

"We've done well to collect points in the games we have. Sure, we could have won today and against Barnsley but if you can't get a win, make sure you get something.

"We should be happy with our performance today and the defence in front of me were superb. They've been brilliant and keeping a clean sheet can become a habit so we've got to build on this performance."

The Sky Blues travel to Swindon Town next Saturday before a trip to Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and the first home match back at the Ricoh Arena against Gillingham.

Allsop was delighted with the announcement on Thursday and believes it will provide a huge boost to the Sky Blues throughout the season.

He added: "It is a massive boost for all of us. When we all heard about it, we were all delighted and I think it will have a huge impact.

"It is a stadium you want to play in and if we can get us many fans as possible at the Ricoh, it will impact our season.

"We've got to make sure we play well against Swindon Town last week and against Wycombe Wanderers because we want to encourage people to come.

"We're all looking forward to it but after today's result, there is more work to be done next week."
