The Sky Blues stopper has now kept three clean sheets in his first three league games for the club...

Coventry City goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook has praised the City defence after keeping three clean sheets following his league debut.

The former Arsenal trainee has done what no other City goalkeeper has done before and keep the trio of clean sheets in his first three league games for the club.

His last clean sheet came against Fleetwood Town at Highbury on Saturday as Richard Wood's late own goal secured a 1-0 victory for the Sky Blues.

Following the result, a delighted Charles-Cook thanked manager Tony Mowbray for the support he has given him during his time in the City starting XI.

The City stopper said: "We absolutely dominated the contest and deserved the win. The gaffer gave us a plan and once again, it has got us the result we need.

"The gaffer has given me an opportunity and I'd like to think I've took it with both hands. He believes in me for him to play which is always encouraging for a player.

"To keep three clean sheets in a row after your league debut is unbelievable really. I just hope I can keep it up and keep making saves for the side.

"With the back four in front of me like I have, it's no surprise we're keeping clean sheets as they've been absolutely brilliant throughout the season."

The Sky Blues face Blackpool on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena as they look to close the gap on top spot in League One with City just three points off the summit.

Charles-Cook went on to praise substitute George Thomas following the win and has also thanked the fans for their support.

He added: "I think the back four have confidence in me as well. They've told me that I wouldn't be in the team if I didn't deserve it and their backing is huge.

"The fans have also been great as well as I've had so much support since coming into the side. This club always backs it's young players and that is really important.

"Well done to George Thomas who made a massive impact when he come on and did really well. He created the chance and probably deserved the goal, I'm crediting him with it.

"I hope to keep going in the side but you never know because that's football. Me and Lee push each other all the way, and it's great that we've got such good competition."
