Sky Blues programme picks up award!

12 February 2014

Official matchday programme PUSB has been handed an award for Best Design for the 2013/14 season

Coventry City’s matchday programme PUSB has landed a prestigious award and has been highly praised by an industry title.

The 64-page programme, which is designed and edited in house by publications editor and graphic designer Carl Newell and designer Matthew Hyde, was given the ‘Best Design’ for League One accolade by Programme Monthly for the 2013/14 season.

The majority of the programme is written by PR and copywriting agency Advent Communications, with Lee Corden, Matthew Joyce and Joe Hewison all contributing to this season’s editions.

Club historian Jim Brown and football historian Leigh Edwards also supply copy to the publication which is priced at £3 per edition.

Carl said he was delighted with the award.

He said: “Once again, it’s been another real team effort on this year’s edition of PUSB and we are thrilled that Programme Monthly have recognised all the effort that has gone into making it another great read for our fans and visiting supporters too.

“We get great support from the staff and players, whose contributions are vital, so a big thank you must go to Steven Pressley and his team.

“Also, it’s great to work with Matthew, who only joined the club last season, here in the office as well as relying on the fantastic work of Lee and the team at Advent as well as Jim and Leigh – because history plays a big part in the programme.

“All that said, it is the supporters’ programme and we continue to strive to make it a publication that everyone can be proud of.”

This year’s PUSB includes a host of features including a ‘lottery’ Q&A with first team players, a profile on academy starlets, a piece tracking the 1963/64 season and a look at the club’s former managers.

Officials at Programme Monthly said: “It is a pleasure to look at and offers visual variety and some nice touches on individual pages in spades.

“There are pages which, where space has allowed, have afforded the opportunity for some excellent layout.

“PUSB is put together with real enthusiasm by those who are pulling for the club. The good content within is lifted further by some cracking layout, a tribute to those producing the programme.”
