Coventry City have now retained three second-year apprentices for first team delevelopment

Coventry City Academy have now progressed three second-year apprentices to first team development from the latest crop of Under 18s graduates.

Defender Ryan Haynes and midfielder Ivor Lawton, who have both already agreed professional terms with the Sky Blues, will now be joined by midfielder Jack Finch who has been offered a two-year professional deal.

Academy manager Richard Stevens said: "This is a very anxious time for our second years but as a club we're delighted to be able to offer Jack a deal to extend his stay with us so that he can continue to progress in the way that he has been.

"Unfortunately this can also be a difficult time for some of our other boys who we have decided not to retain, some of whom have been with us since the beginning of our development programme.

"We do still take our duty of care to these boys very seriously though and we will work with them to help them identify the next step of their careers."

Coventry City Football Club have decided not to retain the following second-year apprentices: Alex Gott, Ryan Smith, Jordan Smith, Ryan Quinn, Eli Bako, Jordan Forrester, Courtney Baker-Richardson.

We would like to wish all of these players the very best of luck in the next stage of their respective careers.
