Sky Blues boss says dramatic comeback win against Peterborough is the first of 'a thousand steps' forward
Coventry City boss Steven Pressley said Saturday's afternoon's 'magnificent' comeback win over Peterborough United at the Ricoh Arena was the first of a thousand steps to get the Sky Blues exactly where they need to be.
City foudn themselves two goals down at half time after Jon Taylor's opener and Marcus Maddison's free kick.
The clawed one back just after the restart though through a well-taken goal from Ryan Haynes before two quickfire strikes just after the hour from Jim O'Brien and Frank Nouble flipped the game on its head.
"It's a very satisfying result," Pressley said. "The clear message at half time was that we need to keep believing in what we're doing because football matches can change very, very quickly.
"One thing from the first half was that we got into good positions but we didn't have the belief to get on to the end of balls in the box and at the right time. It was something we did do in the second half.
"I'm really proud of the players because we've experienced alot of situations where it's easy to go under when you're two goals down and they didn't do that. They were magnificent.
"This is the first step of a thousand steps moving forward and I won't rest until we're exactly where we should be. I'm delighted with the result because it's a big result but I'm also aware of how much hard work lies in front of us."
The win brought an end to a run of six defeats in the last seven league clashes for City and also lifted them out of the regation zone.
Pressley added: "I said to the group that I had real belief that we could turn the recent form around. There's no point in us feeling sorry for ourselves because nobody else will.
"We only get out of it through hard work and perseverance like I said in my press conference this week and that was evident in the second half.
"It certainly wasn't a sparkling first half performance from us but in no way did I think we deserved to be two goals down at half time. But in football you have to make your own luck and we certainly did that today."
