PRESS WATCH: "We have got some inquiries in with some clubs at the moment" - Coventry City's Tony Mowbray

23 March 2016

Tony Mowbray has been speaking to the Coventry Telegraph as the Sky Blues prepare to travel to Peterborough United on Friday evening...

With Mowbray’s side depleted by the international call-ups of James Maddison, Adam Armstrong and Jack Stephens, the City boss may be looking to bolster his side in the loan market.

Coventry City’s under-21s side were also impressive in their 4-goal rout of Bristol City midweek and new signing Jodi Jones will have caught the eye of Mowbray with two goals and an assist on his debut.

The manager has been understated about the impact of Jones, citing the 18-year old as one for the future rather than a ready made player for this season. Nevertheless, Jones did his chances of first team football no harm with a bright U21s audition.

The Dagenham and Redbridge loanee was one of a few players to impress in the under-21s side with Ruben Lameiras, Gael Bigirimana and George Thomas also giving positive displays.

Mowbray has revealed that CCFC are keeping options open, as the loanee window comes to a close at 5pm on Thursday.

Mowbray said: “We have got some inquiries in with some clubs at the moment. We are thin at the moment, particularly defensively.”

Speaking about Jodi Jones, he added: “It was Jodi’s first match and he just slipped straight into the way we play as we had hoped really.

“The plan is to integrate him into the first team training group initially. We’ve signed him because of his talent but he’s only 18 so there’s no immediate expectation.”
